Well, Isaac finally started to eat today. Thank you, Jesus! They started him at 1ml an hour on a continuous feed. So far, so good. We'll know more tomorrow about how he's tolerating it. His incision is leaking less, almost none at all. The test is whether it starts again now that he's eating. On another note, He's a crabby apple if he's not held! I went in tonight to give his nurse a break from holding him. They also broke out the swing for the first time to see if that worked--for about a half hour before he got crabby again. And then Mommy picked him up and he went right to sleep. That made me feel good. His physical therapist came this evening, also. As you can see, he can hold the toy...and then he puts it in his mouth. I'm so proud!

Hannah and I did laundry and started to clean our room...I still haven't finished. One of my NICU mom friends folded our laundry...what a gem. It's the little things that make life soooo much easier. That made me feel so good.

Well, my NICU mom friend and I are watching CSI so I need to sign off.

Love to all.

Hi I think he's just going to be a Mama's Boy for a while. That is a GOOD thing. He recognizes your scent and your voice... you are the MOM!
He is so ridiculously cute; you gotta love the view of him sitting up. Pedialyte... formula... give him RIBS from Damons as soon as possible

A major surgery just a week ago, coming off the vent and oxygen, starting eating again after many months ... with all that change in one week, I'd like I'd want to snuggle with my mommy too!! Praising God for all the progress Isaac has made in one week and that you've been able to spend so much time just lovin' on him this week! He's just perfect!

Just a quick question... The whites of his eyes look yellow, have they taken his bilirubin level to see if he has jaundice? That is a common thing for preemies...my daughter was(a preemie) and was VERY cranky until hers came down.

HOORAY!!!! He's on the road to better times!! Trickle feedings to full feedings very soon!! My prayers continue for you and yours!! You guys look so happy just cuddling with the little guy!
I will answer the question for "anonymous" for you, Tiffany:
Yes, the whites of his eyes are yellowed. This is caused from long term TPN use. TPN is the IV nutrition that Isaac has been on since he does not eat. However, you are correct that neonates do have a higher risk for jaundice and do become more fussy when it is elevated in the first few days/week of life. However, Isaac is past the point of this type of jaundice. His is related now to the TPN. So, his 'fussies' are probably related to wanting to be a big boy and interact with this wonderful world and eat his big boy bottles! ;)
Best wishes to you!!
